Remember the thrill of getting the swing higher up than you ever imagined? Or the first time you conquered the monkey bars? Playgrounds are part of the fabric of our community, and an important part of the school day. Families in Coventry come to the Hopkins Hill School playground for a fun interactive play experience.
Our current playground, built over 15 years ago, was financed by the PTA. As much as we love the playground, we are aware that the structures are old. We are also aware that much of the land on the side of the school is in disrepair and children are unable to use this space due to the deterioration of the land caused by the sand that blows from the dunes.
The town and the school department have begun repairing the damage by putting up a protective fence and laying down soil so grass can grow. That is a good start, but we have a long way to go. And we need your help! We are hosting a community Color Run on April 29, 2018. This event will raise much needed funds to provide new updated and accessible playground equipment, build an outdoor classroom, and have a functional field where students can run, have free play, and organize games in a safe space.
